Our opinion

Imposing fortress, the castle has not ceased to undergo transformations since the 7th century, when it was first built. Counts of Roussillon, Kings of Majorca, Kings of Aragon and Kings of Majorca were its successive owners before Roussillon was attached to the kingdom of France in 1659 (Treaty of the Pyrenees). The fortress - further reinforced by Vauban in the 17th century - is interesting to visit with little furniture but magnificent rooms / volumes. The Château regularly hosts exhibitions and shows.

Built at the start of the Middle Ages to protect the village of Collioure and its natural harbor, the castle first housed its feudal lords before the Catalan kings made it a stopover during their overseas trips.
